Ruth Griffin Lancaster

December 30, 1910 — January 21, 2007

Ruth Griffin Lancaster, 96, of Owensboro, the senior member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and retiree from S.W. Anderson Company died Sunday, January 21, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Miss Lancaster was born in Hancock County in 1910, one of five daughters of the late George Franklin and Margaret Griffin Lancaster. Her sisters, Utha Dell Lancaster, Winnie Lancaster, Mary Lancaster and Effie Lancaster and a long time friend, Spalding Clements preceded her in death. Joining Settle Memorial in 1924 at the age of 14, she was a charter member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and had always been active with the United Methodist Women. Her 42 year tenure with S.W. Anderson Company concluded with her retirement as secretary of then president, Mr. David Reynolds. Miss Lancaster was a Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving Miss Lancaster are several cousins, including: David Reynolds, Darrell Lancaster both of Owensboro, and George and Wanda Parkhurst of CA.

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4 until 7 on Monday and after 10 on Tuesday. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
