Ruth Girtman

Ruth Girtman, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born March 2, 1927 in Jackson, Michigan to the late William H. and Minnie Lindsey Carvender. Ruth was a member of Sorgho Baptist Church. She had been a longtime volunteer at the Elizabeth Munday Senior Center and had been an Avon representative for many years. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Girtman on July 21, 2006, a son-in-law, Robert Ralph, Sr. on April 1, 2014, and six brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her daughter, Sinda Ralph of Owensboro, her son, Larry Girtman and his wife Anne of Tampa, Florida, four grandchildren, Douglas Girtman of Dayton, Ohio, Melissa McElroy of Cedar Park, Texas, Robert Ralph, Jr. and Tisha Kelly, both of Owensboro, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

The funeral service for Ruth Girtman will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
