Russell A. Hayden

Russell A. Hayden, Sr., 73, of 2026 Fernwood Drive, Owensboro, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at his home.

He was born in Daviess County to the late Frank Urban and Lela Newton Hayden on October 19, 1930.

Mr. Hayden, a graduate of Brescia College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, retired after 41 years of service from Texas Gas Transmission Corporation. At the time of his retirement, he was Assistant Manager of Corporate Taxes.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, an active member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and a founding member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where he served in various capacities such as bookkeeper, president of the Men's Club, Little League Baseball Coach, St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Mr. Hayden enjoyed all sports. He was passionate for Owensboro Catholic Football and a devoted UK fan. He was a 41-year member of the Texas Gas bowling and golf leagues.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Marjorie Schrecker Hayden, five daughters and their husbands, Vickie & Chris Warren, Karen & David Jarboe, Jill & Kenny Young, and Cheri & Phil Hayden, all of Owensboro, and Donna & Gary Thompson of Waddy, KY., three sons and their wives, Russell & Vicki Hayden, Jr., John & Mary Margaret Hayden, of Owensboro, and Steve & Kristie Hayden, of Philpot, 30 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, two sisters, Geraldine Craig of Richmond Va., and Mary Lois Limbach of Boca Raton, Fl.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
