Russell F. Ebelhar

Russell F. Ebelhar, 94, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at his home. He was born June 23, 1924 in Daviess Co. to the late Leo and Helen Russell Ebelhar. Russell was retired from Sears, Roebuck, and Co. as a service technician after 35 years of service. He was of the Catholic faith and a U. S. Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II. During the war, Russell was wounded in France in 1944 and received the Purple Heart. He is a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Disabled American Veterans. Russell loved woodworking and was a fine clock maker. He cherished his family and friends, especially the friends he made with employees at several local restaurants he patronized.

Russell was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth T. "Bettye" Ebelhar on May 3, 2009, a daughter, Judith Carol Ebelhar in 1949, a sister, Mary Leo Guinn, and two brothers, Thomas Hugh Ebelhar and Clarence "Bunny" Ebelhar.

Surviving are three sons, Timothy Ebelhar of Owensboro, Randall Ebelhar and wife Melinda of LaCanada, California, and William Ebelhar and wife Jennifer of Cincinnati, Ohio, six grandchildren, Taylor King, Leigh Richey, CeCe Ebelhar, Bobby Ebelhar, Michael Ebelhar, and Stephen Ebelhar, two great grandchildren, Ellis Rose and Warren Arthur King, a brother, Robert Douglas Ebelhar and wife Jj of Hendersonville, Tennessee, five sisters, Sister Helen Leo Ebelhar of Maple Mount, Helen Reinstedler of Louisville, Barbara Ann Powers and husband George of Bowling Green, Pat Mearkel and husband Walt of W. Windsor, Connecticut, and Beverly Ebelhar of Owensboro.

A Celebration of Russell's Life will be held at the family's discretion. Russell will be joining his wife Bettye at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
