Russell Eugene Brown

December 12, 1926 — August 20, 2008

Russell Eugene Brown, 81, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born and raised in Hancock County, he was the son of the late John and Cova Brown; was retired from Commonwealth Aluminum where he worked for 22 years; and was a member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church. Mr. Brown was an avid NASCAR fan attending many races, and a big fan of the UK Wildcats. He loved spending time with his family (five generations) and hunting and fishing and walking around his farm in Reynolds Station. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Milner and Tommy Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Boling Brown; children, Ramonda Towery and her husband Jerry, Karen Henry and her husband Darrell, and Van "Bud" Brown and his wife Shirley all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Jennifer Matson, Chris Towery, Warren Henry, B. J. Brown, Renee' Jones, Chad Brown, Jill Cooney, Jamie Rich, and Nick Brown; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Owensboro; and two nieces and two nephews.

Services are 10 A.M. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Coble officiating followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Friday, August 22, 2008 and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
