Russell B. Brooks

Russell B. R.B. Brooks, Sr., 80, of 2578 Kentucky 1207, Owensboro died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Daviess County, Kentucky on August 6, 1921 the son of Russell Oldham and Mary Benton Brooks.

Mr. Brooks retired as a foreman from Green River Steel after 30 years, and was a farmer. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a Kentucky Colonel. He graduated from Daviess County High School and University of Kentucky and was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Christine Brooks; two sons, George Dennis Brooks and Russell Brooks, Jr., both of Owensboro; two daughters, Susan Brooks Smith of Owensboro and Mary Lou Brooks Saye of Atlanta; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and an uncle.

Private services will be Saturday, May 25, 2002. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. His family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2002 and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home.
