Ruset Maynard

Ruset "Russ" Maynard, 53, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Heartford House. He was born on June 5, 1960 in Jefferson Co., KY. He was 6' 5" and first known for his star basketball skills with Apollo High School in the 70's. He became a hospital corpsman after joining the Navy in the 80's. He learned many skills over the years and was employed with Sun Windows when he began his battle with cancer. Russ loved to cook for family and friends until he could no longer stand at the stove. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife and they were members of the Owensboro Ballroom Dancing Club. Russ was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Maynard in 2003 and his grandparents, Keith and Libby Williams.



Surviving are his wife of 11 years, Kelli Shouse Maynard, his mother, Marcia Maynard of Florida, three sons, Keith Hardig of Owensboro, Josh (Althea) Hardig of Vincennes, IN, and Dylan Jones of Hanson, a daughter, Brittany (Tim) Burgess of Vincennes, seven grandchildren, Rune Hardig, Tabbatha McMillan, Phoenix Godfrey, Timmy, Matthew, and Alex Burgess, and Sunshine Gambill, two great grandchildren, Maddixx and Kinzlee Daggett, two sisters, Julie Osborne of Robinson, IL and Andrea Sheldon of Owensboro, and a brother, Bret "Windy" Maynard of Owensboro.

Services will be 4:00 P. M. Saturday, December 28, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 12 Noon Saturday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the Mitchell Cancer Center, his Hospice nurse Kaye, and the staff of the Heartford House where he received his first certificate of appreciation of service during his stay on Veteran's Day and would also like to thank the Carmel Home sisters and staff and family and friends for their support.

"Russ, when you see Jerry again, let him win at chess once in awhile".
