Ruby Evelyn Wood

Ruby Evelyn Wood, 88, of 2905 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Visiting Nurse Hospice in Evansville, IN. She was born March 28, 1917 to the late George T. and Clara Mae Davis Boyd in Crittenden County, KY. She worked as a nurse at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing and being with her grandchildren. Evelyn was always a strong encourager to everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Watson Wood, who died in 1980.

Survivors include two sons; Kenneth Wood and his wife, Carolyn of Evansville, IN, J. Dan Wood and his wife, Mindy, of Shady Grove, KY; one daughter, Connie Johnson and her husband, Larry of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Lee and Michael Wood, Kelly Perryman, April and Allison Wood, Carah Maze, David B. Johnson and Lori Anne Johnson; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wilborn Boyd of Leesburg, FL, William Boyd of Evansville, Clifton Boyd of Louisville; one sister, Anne Lester of Newport Beach, CA.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, at Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro, with burial in Shady Grove Cemetery in Shady Grove, KY. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday will be after 10:00 AM at the church. Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Saturday.
