Ruby Roberts, 84, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Daviess County to the late John and Flora Maglinger. Ruby was a member of Owensboro Seventh Day Adventist Church since 1968. She worked as a welder at General Electric for more than 20 years and then at Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital for almost 20 years as a nurse's assistant, where she retired. Afterward, she volunteered for six years at her church as the community service director. Ruby loved soap operas, reading, playing cards, gardening and vacationing. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her church and family.
Ruby was preceded in death by sisters Nanny Henry, Ester Reneer, Bonnie Anderson, Margaret Holder, Samantha Wright, Temple Hodges and Carolyn Turner; brothers Hewitt Maglinger, Ray Maglinger and John Maglinger; and stepbrother Henry Maglinger.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Kenneth Roberts; a daughter, Vicki (Larry) Doss; sons Eric Dean (Jonell) Roberts and Bruce Alan Roberts; granddaughters Rana Stiles, Sherrie (Nick) Conkright, Christina Boarman and Erica Roberts; and grandsons Wesley (Courtney) Boarman and Brian (Jessica) Boarman; and eight great-grandkids.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Michael Foraker officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
