Ruby Bond Butler, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on May 6, 2011 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. Ruby was born in Logan County, Kentucky to her late parents John and Grace Bond. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 52 years where she had attended the Service Sunday school class. She retired from General Electric, and then was a volunteer at the Help Office for many years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, and gardening, but most of all enjoyed being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Frances McIntosh and Lois Ringham, brothers James Bond and Kenneth Bond, and a son-in-law Vince Leeper.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Gay Brandle and husband Steve and Kay English and husband Bob, all of Owensboro. In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren: Chris Brandle of Cave City, Jessi Martin, Erik Leeper and wife Andrea of Owensboro and Jason Leeper of Tavares, Florida and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Pauline DeVasier, Ruth Ethridge, Shirley Utley, and Sara Reynolds, all of Russellville, and Nell Violett of Cartersville, GA.
Services will be at noon on May 10, 2011 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Private graveside services will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
