Ruby Sides Best

Ruby Sides Best, 95, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was born February 20, 1914, in Hickory, NC to the late Roy and Minnie Hatley Sides. She retired from Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville, NC as a lab tech after 36 years of service. Ms. Best was a member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Owensboro. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Kimble Best; two sisters, Thelma Jonas, and Claire Minton and her brother, Roy Sides, Jr.

Survivors include her son, Ray Best and his wife Nelda of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Rene Taylor and her husband Clay and Kyle Best and his wife Emily all of Owensboro; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron Lee Taylor and Mazie Ray Taylor.

Services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
