He later transferred to Finance where he became the company's primary representative for union relations. It was a position he also held with MPD, Inc., the successor company to GE which still operates in Owensboro.
Roy left GE in 1973 to accept appointment as Comptroller of OMU, from which he resigned after a short time to accept the position as Business Manager and Treasurer of Kentucky Wesleyan College. After seven years, he returned to GE; in all working a total of 32 years for GE and MPD.

In his free time Roy enjoyed golf, travel, slide photography and UK basketball. His friends and neighbors were always delighted to receive fresh vegetables from his manicured garden which was protected by a tuxedo-clad scarecrow.
