Roy Emmett Hite

June 9, 1939 — July 6, 2006

Roy Emmett Hite, 67, of Philpot, died July 6, 2006 at his home secure in the love of his family after a short but difficult illness. He was born, raised, & lived his entire life, and died in his home. He was born in Daviess Co. to the late Franklin & Lottie S. Hite. He was a member of Owensboro Church of Christ, had been an officer for the Whitesville P.T.A., and a 4-H Horse Project leader for 30 years. He was retired from retail sales in a number of different positions. He lent his voice as an auctioneer and was the announcer for the Ohio Valley Appaloosa Horse Club. He was a Nascar, Oprah, and U.K. basketball fan, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, his pets, and loved being with his grandchildren. He volunteered his home, family, equipment, and horses to help people at the Wendell Foster Center, the Detention Center, and the Goodloe Center.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Regina Hite, his three sons, Dwayne C. and wife Gaynell Hite, Jeffry A. Hite, and Glenn E. and wife Karen Hite, all of Philpot, and nine grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, July 10 at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
