Roy A. Gillaspie

Roy A. Gillaspie, 43, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Owensboro to Larry Gillaspie and Patricia Baggarly. Roy graduated from Daviess County High School in 1991 and Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis after that. He worked for Southwire and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Roy loved to fish, hunt, and raised a large garden that he loved to share all the rewards of with his friends and family. He also raised chickens, turkeys, and quail, but a big passion of his was raising and taking care of his rabbits, which at one point he had over a hundred of them. Roy was a family guy who everyone loved and enjoyed his great sense of humor.

Roy was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Helen Gillaspie, and Mr. and Mrs. Baggarly.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Teresa Gillaspie; and Patricia Baggarly Gramlin; his two children, Roy and Christina Crews; a sister, Anita Powell (Keith) of Huntsville, AL.; brothers, Jeff Woodruff (Dawn) of Philpot and Brian Gillaspie (Tiffany) of Utica; half-sisters, Jessy Fischbeck and Ann Thomas; 2 grandchildren; many aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins. Roy will also be missed by his favorite companion, his Chihuahua.

A funeral service for Roy will be held at 2PM, Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Paul Strahan Officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 3PM till 8PM and on Tuesday from 12PM until service time.
