Roy Leigh Emmick, 89, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at Owensboro Center. He was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Caneyville to the late Roy Lee and Elizabeth Leigh Emmick. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War era and had served as president of the Daviess County Lions Club for two years.
Roy retired from the Federal Land Bank as a regional president. He was of the Methodist faith and had been a real estate appraiser. He was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and received his degree in agriculture. Roy was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel, member of the Daviess County Lions Club and a former president of the Kentucky Society of Farm managers and Rural Appraisers. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas S. Emmick, in 2009.
Surviving are his wife, Sherial Ann Westerfield Emmick; his son, Paul Emmick of Owensboro; a brother, Jimmy (Nelda) Emmick of Lewisport; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Emmick of Owensboro.
Services will be noon Friday in the chapel of Rosehill Cemetery. Burial will follow in Rosehill. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no visitation Friday.
