Rowland Shepherd

October 13, 1925 — April 30, 2012

Rowland Shepherd ,86, of Owensboro passed away on April 30, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Butler County to the late Elige and Della Shepherd.

Rowland was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a skilled carpenter and retired from Jagoe Homes after many years of service.

Rowland was an avid fisherman and gardener and also enjoyed NASCAR Racing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Sue Anna Shepherd; his parents; sisters, Reva Pagan, Rena Arnold, Lottie Hite and Gracie Sapp and brothers, Roel and Harvey Shepherd.

Rowland is survived by a daughter, Dianna Latham (Monty) of Livermore; two sons, Mike Shepherd ( Carol ) of Owensboro and Ronnie Shepherd (Susan) of Newburgh, Indiana; grandchildren, Michael Shepherd, Carey Huff, Tisha Stephens-Royal, Joshua and Jeremy Shepherd, Jay Latham, Corey, Christie and Chad Clark, Dana Morris, Troy Dant and Mason Shepherd; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Marie Bradley of Oklahoma; a brother, Johnny Shepherd of Owensboro and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Tony St. Clair will officiate. Burial will be at Yellow Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 9:00 am until service time.
