Rosita Simmons Blandford

Rosita Simmons Blandford, 82, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, September 11, 2009, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Florence, KY. She was born May 24, 1927, to the late Charles R. and Mary Catherine Bowling Simmons in Daviess County. She was an active member of the Immaculate Catholic Parrish, which included the ''Over 50's'' Club and Immaculate Spiritual Group. She was also involved in the New Horizons Homemakers Club and worked at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Owensboro for several years.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Douglas Blandford in 1950 and a
daughter, JoAnne Blandford in 1967.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph J. Blandford; a son,
Dick Blandford (Cindy) of Hebron, KY; two daughters, Stephana Zeleznik (Jack) of Versailles, KY, and Karen Adams (Dan) of Taylor Mill, KY; four grandchildren, Stacy Zeleznik, Adam Blandford, Adrienne and Madeline Adams; a brother, W.C. Simmons; two sisters, Aileen Abel and Marie Nunnally, all of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Immaculate Catholic Church,
with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:30 P.M.
Monday with prayers at 6:30 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral
Home and Crematory.
