Rosemary Holbrook Coomes, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Rosemary will be greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born July 18, 1930 in Daviess Co. to the late David Belmont and Teresa M. Wilson Holbrook. She was a 1948 graduate of Daviess Co. High School and attended Owensboro Business College.
Rosemary was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and later was a founding member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church where she was a member of the Reflectors Sunday School Class. She loved her family, and the outdoors including camping and fishing. She took care of her family farm and painted many pictures depicting life on that farm.
Rosemary was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James E. Coomes on April 6, 2018, an infant son, Dennis Gregory Coomes on March 18, 1956, two brothers, David B. Holbrook and his wife Doris and Donald R. Holbrook, and a sister, Betty M. Mitchell.
Rosemary is survived by her children, Philip Coomes and wife Connie of Destin, Florida, Donald Coomes, Timothy Coomes, and Linda Clatterbuck and husband Tony, all of Owensboro, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be Noon Saturday, July 14, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
