Rose Mary Thompson

Rose Mary Thompson, 77, of Springwood Drive, Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 02, 2008, at the Owensboro Medical Health System following a short illness. She was born June 7, 1931 to the late Bernard and Lillian Bivins Dockemeyer in Daviess County. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, a former member of St. Alphonsus Alter Society, and a former member of the Daviess County Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, spending her winters in Florida, and being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by three sons, David Wayne, Chris and Franky Thompson, a great-grandchild, Colten Burden, two sisters, Geraldine Head and Sue Dant, and one brother, Jimmie Dockemeyer.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, William Joseph "Bill" Thompson, her sons, Bernard Thompson and his wife, Paulette of Falls Church, VA, and Tommy Thompson and his wife, Donna of Rockport, IN, her daughters, Lynda Edwards and her husband, Danny of Elba, Darlene May and her husband, Keith of Panther, a daughter-in-law, Sandra Thompson of Philpot; 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; her sisters, Janice Warren of Sorgho, Margaret Kelly and Maye Hayden of Owensboro, Bernadine Edwards of Elba and Faye May of Calhoun, her brothers Charles Dockemeyer of Owensboro and Bobby Dockemeyer of Kokomo, IN.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with burial in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home with prayers at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Visitation Saturday will be after 8:30 AM at the funeral home.
