Rose Bailey Slack

Rose Bailey Slack, 94, of Owensboro, died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born near Thruston on January 14, 1911, attended Owensboro public schools and graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1933 when it was located in Winchester, KY.

Following graduation, Mrs. Slack taught elementary school and retired from the Owensboro Independent School System in 1972 after 34 years service. She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, Owensboro Retired Teachers Association, Kentucky Teachers Association, and the National Education Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Slack in 1965, her parents George Bailey and Verda Duke Bailey, and two brothers, George B. Bailey, Jr.and Lee C. Truman.

She is survived by a niece, Susan R. Bailey of Atlanta, GA and a nephew, Lee Truman, Jr. of Bowling Green.

A graveside service will be 1 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2005 at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Glenn Funeral Home is handling arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church or the Rose Bailey Slack Scholarship Fund, Kentucky Wesleyan University.
