Rose Mariam Hamilton Payne

Rose Mariam Hamilton Payne, 63, of Owensboro died peacefully Monday, October 5, 2009 with her family by her side from brain cancer. She was born on January 28, 1946 in Daviess County and worked for H&R Block as a senior tax advisor. Rose was an active member of St Pius Tenth Catholic Church. She did volunteer work with St Vincent De Paul, assisted with bereavement dinners, and parish picnics. She enjoyed being a member of the Busy Bee Homemakers for many years, vacations, flower gardens, family get togethers and above all, spending all the time she could with her grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, George "Coke" Hamilton on May 26, 2008, and Anna V. Hamilton on October 7, 2004, and by three siblings, Joseph Bernard Hamilton, Mary Angelia Hamilton, and Bernadette Wedding.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Joseph Anthony Payne; children, Christopher Payne (Brandi) and Sheila Nealen (James) both of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Jordyn Payne, Ethan Payne, and Blake Nealen; two step-grandchildren, Sebastian Fulkerson and Brice Boarman; a sister, Anna Marie Roberts of Owensboro; two brothers, Randall Hamilton of Whitesville and Carl Hamilton of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at St Pius Tenth Catholic Church with Father Richard Meredith officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where prayers will be said at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St Pius Tenth Building Fund or to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
