Rose "Gwen" Leisure Sweeney

Rose Gwendine “Gwen” Leisure Sweeney, 88, of Owensboro, passed away January 25, 2025, at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Born to the late Norben and Pauline Jolly Leisure on July 31, 1936, Gwen was a member of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church. She worked at G.E. as a payroll clerk and was also a member of John B. Hinkle Rebekah Lodge #39. Gwen enjoyed gardening, playing Bunco, and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Sweeney and daughter, Lisa C. Sweeney. 

Gwen is survived by her sons, Barry (Scarlett) Sweeney and Mike (Janice) Sweeney; grandchildren, Laura (Chris) Priest, David (Theresa) Sweeney, Kyle (Danielle) Sweeney, Bryan Sweeney and Steven (Bethany) Randall; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Rose Ann) Leisure, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
