Rose L. (Gilles) Carrico, 87, of Owensboro passed away November 23, 2013, at the Carmel Home. She was born in Daviess County to the late Frank and Rosa Simon Gilles, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes, and had been a housekeeper at the Bishop Soenecker Home. Rose was a gifted homemaker and spent much of her time quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning and raising her children and her roses. She was a wonderful doll maker and crafted a Raggedy Ann doll for each of her grand-daughters.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Carrico and her son Robert Carrico.
Survivors include sons, Ken Carrico (Katrina) of Utica, Paul Carrico (Leslie) of Simpsonville, SC, and Patrick Carrico (Laura) of Brentwood, TN; daughters, Barbara Smith (Tommy) of Cloverport and Phyllis Brown (John) of Henderson, KY; a sister, Alberta Hagan of Owensboro; daughter-in-law, Janie Carrico; 14 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 12:05 p.m. on Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Family sharing will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. William's Cemetery in Knottsville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home.
