Rose Jean Sims Bartlett, 56, of Owensboro, died Monday, March 23 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Owensboro to Mary J. Ebelhar Sims and the late John M. Sims, Sr.
Rose was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High and a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.
Prior to her disability she was employed at Ragu (now Bertolli). Rose had also worked as a nurse's assistant for thirteen years at Owensboro Daviess County Hospital and was with Home Health for several years. She enjoyed travelling, shopping, working in her yard and flowers. Most of all, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Jason Hawkins (Mandy) and Brandon Hawkins; grandchildren, Ann Marie Howard, Alexis Poole, Aiden Poole and Evye Wilson; her mother, Mary J. Ebelhar Sims; a sister, Sharon Bumm; a brother, John M. "Johnny" Sims, Jr., all of Owensboro; nieces, Michelle Kassinger and Karen Bumm; and longtime companion, Jerry Conkright.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM, Friday, March 27 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Fr. Tony Jones will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM on Thursday, with prayers at 7:30 PM, and on Friday after 8:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
