Sister Mary Rosaria Ray, OSU


Maple Mount Sister Mary Rosaria Ray, 88, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died Saturday, August 21, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 68th year of religious life. She was a native of Payneville in Meade County.

An educator for more than 45 years, she taught at St. Alphonsus School, St. Joseph (1944, 1957-58), and St. Peter School, Stanley (1947-51). She was principal at Sts. Joseph and Paul (1968-78) and Immaculate (1978-81) schools in Owensboro and at Mary Carrico School, Knottsville (1981-91). She also served in parish ministry in Sunfish and worked in crafts and mail distribution at Mount Saint Joseph. She took a deep interest in all of her religious community's activities.

Survivors include two sisters, Anna O'Bryan of Ekron and Mary Patricia Ray of Brandenburg; one brother, Joseph Patrick Ray of Guston; nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.

The funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, at Mount Saint Joseph, where visitation will begin Monday at 4 p.m., with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m.

Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, Owensboro, is in charge of arrangements.
