Ron Horton, Sr., 63, of Owensboro, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at his home. He was born June 24, 1946 to the late William and Lillie Johnson Horton in Daviess County. Ron had worked for Western Kentucky Energy and was a member of the IBEW #1701. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and enjoyed NASCAR, coaching softball, and bar-be-cueing with friends and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Horton.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Kazuko Horton; his children, a son, Ronnie Horton of Port St. Lucie, FL, three daughters, Theresa Kasinger and her husband, Clint, Nancy Lane and her husband, Jason, Sonya Johnson and her husband, Todd, all of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Tyler Horton, Jesse Kasinger, Hannah and Emme Powers; two brothers, his twin, Donnie Horton and his wife, Debbie, and David Lee Horton, all of Owensboro; a sister-in-law, Martha Horton of Owensboro; several uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with burial and Military Honors by VFW Post 696, in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, and after 10:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
