Rolla ''R.H.'' Hardesty, 82, of 3936 Placid Place West, Owensboro, died Saturday, August 4, 2001, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. The Daviess County native retired after 42 years as an Independent Oil Distributor. A catholic and WW II veteran, he was crew chief on the B-26 bomber ''Miss Kentucky'', a graduate of D.C.H.S. and a member of the 1940 state runner-up baseball team. He enjoyed his family and playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fay Farley Hardesty in 1987.
He is survived by four sons, Pat Hardesty, Willie Hardesty, and David Hardesty all of Owensboro and Mike Hardesty of Newman; four daughters, Lana Chaney and Kathy Shoemaker of Owensboro, Karen Anne Wright of Danville, and Mary Raley of Sorgho; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret O'Bryan, Martha Poole and Faye Douglas all of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Reed with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Glenn Funeral Home from 2-8 P.M. Monday, August 6 and after 9 A.M. Tuesday, August 7. Prayers will be said at 7 P.M. Monday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the St Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery Fund.
