Roger Dean Mayfield

Roger Dean Mayfield, 63, of Owensboro went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 26th, 2014 after a 24 year battle with an aggressive brain tumor. He was at home surrounded by his loved ones when he passed. Roger's life was truly a miracle. His purpose was to share the message of John 3:16; "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.''

Roger was born in Owensboro to Jerome and Juanita (Boarman) Mayfield on May 6, 1950. He served as a supply truck driver in the Army during the Vietnam War and retired from Green River Steel in 1989. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his beloved family, and was very proud of all his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome Mayfield; brothers, Leamon Mayfield, Donnie Mayfield, Wayne Mayfield; sister, Brenda Howard, and grandson, Carter Mayfield.

He leaves behind his cherished wife of 40 years, Debra L. Mayfield; children, Stacy (Joe) Roberts, of Owensboro, Keisha Mayfield of Kansas City, MO, Melissa (Mike) Rudd of Owensboro, Roger Jr.(Tiffany) Mayfield of Mt. Washington, KY, Heather Mayfield of Owensboro, and Jonathan Mayfield of Owensboro; Grandchildren, Anna Marie and Caleb Roberts, Michael Jr. , Sheilia, Peggy, and Hayley Rudd, Tucker and Talan Mayfield, Camryn and Cayleigh Mayfield; brother and sisters, Carl Mayfield, Betty Clark, Charlotte Jones, Eddie Mayfield, Carolyn Elliott, Lois Booker, Shelby Mayfield, and Denny Mayfield.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 10:00a.m.until the time of service. Service will be 2:00p.m.at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Jerry Ford Officiating. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
