Robin Duvall Vaughn, 48, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Heartford House Hospice Center in Owensboro. She passed away with the same beauty and grace that she exhibited throughout her life. Born on October 3, 1965 in Greenville, KY, she was the first child of Jim and Edna Wilkerson Duvall.
Robin was a graduate of Owensboro High School and Henderson Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing, allowing her to pursue her life's calling. Her nursing career began at Owensboro Mercy Hospital where she touched the lives of countless patients who found her to be an angel in their time of need. She became a manager at Owensboro Heart and Vascular for several years. Returning to her passion for patient care, she accepted a position at Owensboro Medical Health System where she became manager of the Cardiac Step-down Unit. Before her illness forced her retirement, she was named Director of Patient Experience. During her career, she received several awards for nursing, none more valuable than the thousands of people who remember her genuine kindness and caring during their most difficult hours. She was truly an angel of mercy and brought comfort to countless strangers. Robin's caring was never restricted to the confines of the hospital, but was extended to family, friends, and strangers on the side of the road: she truly made a difference in the world.
