Roberta Frances Simone

Roberta Frances Simone,72, of Owensboro, passed away on September 30, 2018 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born September 17, 1946 in Lawrence, MA. to the late Richard and Mary McNulty Gardner. Roberta had a passion for helping others and spent 51 years as a nurse in many different positions, and retired in 2012 as a Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor at River Valley. She was a generous and loyal woman, enjoyed working her crossword puzzles, and watching Owensboro Catholic softball and football games. Roberta loved the Lord and was an active member of Relevant Faith Church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert "Doc" Simone; and a brother, Richard "Rick" Gardner Jr.

Roberta is survived by her sons, Dr Sean Simone (Bree), Chris Simone, Kevin Simone, and Tim Simone; grandchildren, Bailey Simone, Tyler Simone, Zachary Simone, and Sophie Simone; a brother Paul (Shelley) Gardner, a sister in law Kathy Gardner and her children Kathleen, Kacie, Jessica and Patrick. Roberta also held a special place in her heart for her great nieces and nephew; Abbey, Sydney, Frankie and Autumn; and sister in laws on her husband's side of the family, Judy Savastano (Tony) and Sandra Bernard (Armand).

The memorial service for Roberta Simone will begin at 6 pm Wednesday October 3, 2018 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Oda Shouse officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 pm until time of service at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Relevant Faith Church in Owensboro or the Salvation Army.
