Roberta "Bobbi" Schaefer, 88, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, FL. Mrs. Schaefer was born in Cairo, IL and grew up in Mound City, IL. Following her graduation from Linden Wood College, she taught school in southern Illinois and at Lincoln School in Owensboro. She loved her family and enjoyed knitting, playing bridge, flowers and gardening, golf, fishing, and being in Florida. She had been a member of the Hospital Guild and the 20 & 4 Club.
Mrs. Schaefer is survived by her husband of 68 years, Maurice "Maury" Schaefer, her children, Maury Schaefer, Jr. and his wife Annette of Owensboro and Robynn Greer and her husband Dan of Washington, MO; her grandchildren, Michele Schaefer Ravencraft, John Schaefer, Ben Greer, and Drew Greer; and her great-granddaughter, Schuler Ravencraft.
The service for Mrs. Schaefer will be private. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude, Kentucky Wesleyan College, or Brescia University.
