Maple Mount Sister Robert Ann Wheatley, 91, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph, died Easter Sunday, April 8, at Mount Saint Joseph, in her 72nd year of religious life.
Sister Robert Ann was an excellent cook and quilter, skills she learned from her mother. She loved sharing the good news of God's love with all those she ministered to, and she was a great University of Kentucky Wildcat fan.
An educator for more than 30 years, the Cloverport, native taught in Owensboro at Precious Blood (1970-71), Immaculate (1975-80), and St. Pius Tenth (1969 and 1981); St. Elizabeth, Curdsville (1963-64); St. Mary Magdalene, Sorgho (1985-86); St. Lawrence (1959-60) and St. Joseph, Central City (1973-74). She taught in many other schools in Kentucky, Nebraska and New Mexico. She also served as Motherhouse librarian at Maple Mount (1986-89).
Survivors include a brother, Adrian Wheatley, Hawesville; nieces, nephews and cousins, and the members of her religious community.
The funeral mass is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Mount Saint Joseph Chapel, with burial in the convent cemetery. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel, where visitation begins at 4 p.m.
Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, Owensboro, is in charge of arrangements.
