Robert Junior Wells, 72, of Thruston-Dermont Road, Owensboro died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at his home. Robert was a native of Fordsville, born to the late, Marvin M. and Mabel (Hendrix) Wells. He graduated from Fordsville High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as a crane operator for Commonwealth Aluminum in April 2001, after 22 years. Robert was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, was active, doing anything needed. He was a devoted father who loved his children and grandchildren. He also loved cooking and eating, visiting with his family and friends, watching westerns, and U.K. basketball. A brother, Edward Wells and a sister Doris Cooper also preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 28 years, Karen (Roby) Wells, his children, Lauren Elizabeth Wells of Louisville, KY., Erin Veronica Wells at home, SFC. Robert Timothy (Pam) Wells of Ft. Campbell, KY., Lisa Michelle Wells and Kimberly Kay (Wayne) Roby both of Whitesville, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister Wanda (Bob) Burnell of Fordsville, a brother Denzil (Dolores) Wells of Reynolds Station, and a sister-in-law Joan Wells of North Carolina.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Meredith officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 6 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky or to St. Pius X Building Fund.
