Robert D. Slaven

Robert D. "Bobby" Slaven, 69, of Owensboro, passed away August 13, 2015 while in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born January 10, 1946 to the late Joseph and Mary Slaven. Bobby retired from working in the coal mines as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the 1980's. Bobby had a great sense of humor and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Doris Slaven, and brother, Junior Slaven.


Survivors include his wife, Louise Slaven; daughter, Jennifer Slaven Mosley; step-daughters, Karen Flynn (Charlie) of Holiday, FL. and Joni Henry (Chris) of Austin, TX.; grandchildren, Brittany Cooper and Robert Mosley; step-granchildren, Casey Banken, Alex Banken, Brianna Flynn, Cameron Henry, and Grace Henry; great-grandchildren, Briley Barnet and Breanna Cooper; step-great-grandchildren, Westin Tubbs, brother, Gary Slaven ( Cindy); sister, Kathi Roach (Danny); and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Immaculate Catholic Church on Monday at 11:30am. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Prayers will be held at 5:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm until 6pm and after 10am on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
