Robert E. Settle

Robert E. Settle, 72, of the Panther community, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2007 at his home. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late William O. & Lorella Nevitt Settle. He was retired from National Southwire Aluminum Co. after 25 years as a certified machinist and was of the Presbyterian faith. He loved hunting and fishing especially elk hunting in Colorado with his late friend, Terry Camp and with his sons and grandsons. He also loved riding around on his farm, watching U.K. basketball, and having family get togethers at his home on the farm. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Specialist First Class Jason Settle who was killed in Iraq serving his country on April 19, 2006 and a brother, Randall Wayne Settle in 1973.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Joyce Myles Settle, two sons, Mike Settle and wife Susan, and Barry Settle and fiancammie Sutherlin, all of Utica, two daughters, Rhonda Mandrell of Owensboro and Rebecca Bean and husband Mike of Lexington, eight grandchildren, David Kelly and wife Jenny and Matt Kelly, all of Lexington, Marissa Mandrell of California, Lauren Mandrell of Owensboro, Aaron Settle of Maceo, Logan Settle of Owensboro, and Brandi and Ben Settle of Utica, three great grandchildren, Chloe Settle, Jacob Kelly, and Braxton Settle, a brother, Richard Settle and wife Dorothy of Calhoun, a sister, Shirlene Clark of Calhoun, an aunt, Ruth Fort of Owensboro, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
