Robert Eugene “Bob” Rumage, 90. of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Wellington Parc. He was born February 12, 1934 in Daviess County to the late Robert Edward and Martine Wink Rumage. During his lifetime, Bob had worked at T. E. Good Grocery from 1950 until 1957, Home Furniture in the rug department from 1959 until 1987, and Brenner’s Carpets from 1987 until 2007. Bob was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and Navy Reserves from 1952 until 1959 where he served on active duty from 1957 until 1959. While on active duty, he served on ships with the Admiral’s Pacific Fleet. Bob also was an avid U. K. basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed playing billiards at the 8 Ball, Hutches, and the Munday Senior Center, going to the horse races at Ellis Park and Churchill Downs, fishing, and just working in general to stay busy.
Also preceding him in death was a sister, Betty Bickett, and two brothers, Hugh Rumage and Norman Rumage.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Bickett Rumage, two daughters, Cindy Payne and husband Mike of Owensboro and Jennifer Rumage of Louisville; two grandchildren, Cassidy Payne of Los Angeles, California and Weston Payne of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters, Ginny Galloway and Carolyn Infanti, of Owensboro and Sharon Hardin of Fordsville and a brother, Ronnie Rumage and wife Rosemary of Owensboro; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass for Bob will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 20 at Immaculate Catholic Church with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM Friday with prayers at 6 PM and from 9 AM until 10 AM Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
