Robert Lewis Rose

Robert "Bob" Lewis Rose, 89, of Owensboro, Kentucky, went to heaven to play the accordion with his family's band on May 12, 2010. Mr. Rose played football for Owensboro High School and was nicknamed "Flash" because of his speed, he then served in the Navy during WWII and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Parks Air College. He retired from General Electric after 31 years and was a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Legion, the Senior Citizens Center, the Fraternal Order of Police, and Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Rose was a watch maker, he enjoyed playing cards, loved cars, and spent time playing his accordion in nursing homes, schools and at the Wendell Foster Center. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur C. and Lydia Marie Fliehmann Rose; a sister, Ruthmarie Rose Stewart; and a brother, William (Bill) H. Rose.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lucille Boehm Rose; sisters-in-law, Helen Guenthner of Louisville, Pauline Hamilton of Greely, CO, Beatrice Rose of Houston, TX, and Cornelia Moseley and Agnes Moseley of Owensboro; nieces, Ann Sullivan of California, Kay Neill of Utah, and Carol Tonner of Montana; nephews Jim Stewart of California and Dan Rose of Texas. Mr. Rose is also survived by 23 other nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews all of whom he enjoyed.

Services will be held at Noon on Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Wendell Foster Center, Sensory Park.
