Robert Lee Riggs

Robert Lee " Bebunk" Riggs, 89, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2012, at Hillcrest Nursing facility. He was born July 14, 1923, in McLean Co. to the late Fred and Martha Riggs.

Aside from his loving parents Robert was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Jean Gipe Riggs who passed away in 2002.

Robert was a member of First Christian Church for many years. He was a 32nd degree mason who belonged to the Hadi Shrine Temple. As a member of the Shrine; Robert took on the identity of "Bebunk" the clown. He was known for his love of children and his kind warm hearted nature. Robert was young at heart and was known as Owensboro's oldest boy. He brought joy to many people.

He is survived by his two beloved daughters; Barbara Latimore and her husband Paul of Springfield, IL, and Nancy Cox and her husband Bear of Owensboro; 5 grandchildren, Todd Latimore and Marti Roveda, Gerry, Justin, and William Cody Cox; 7 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Zachary, Emma, Kelby, Carter, Rylee and John.

Funeral services were held privately on Sunday, November 11, 2012. Interment took place at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to either the Shriner's Hospital or First Christian Church.
