Robert B. "Bob" Pyle, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born February 11, 1924 in Joplin Missouri to the late Albert B. and Lena Ingram Pyle. Bob was retired from Green Coal Co. after 30 years having been their Purchasing Agent. He was a member of Owensboro Christian Church for over 50 years and had served as their director of Senior Adult Ministries. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and had flown over 25 missions on a B-17 bomber and was the radio operator. He also was a member of the All-American Club at K.W.C. and a Kentucky Colonel. Bob was also preceded in death by his wife, Vernal Pyle on March 1, 2010 and a brother, Gerald "Bud" Pyle.
Surviving is his son, Barry Pyle and wife Sharon of Tuscon, AZ, his daughter, Cheryl D. Hagan and husband Gary of Villa Park, CA, five grandchildren, Nikki Vanderschraaf of Orange, CA, Kelly Fisher and husband Rob of Orange, Kara Pyle of Englewood, CO, Adam Pyle and wife Michelle of Fullerton, CA, and an adopted granddaughter, Amy Salyer of Lexington, five great grandchildren, Cole, Lexi, and Ruby Fisher, and Maggie and Gracie Vanderschraaf, and a brother, James R. Pyle of Florissant, MO.
Services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 6, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with full military honors. Entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum will be private. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
