Robert "Bob" William Norris, 85, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday May 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 19, 1928 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Wilbur and Stella Boulware Norris. Bob was retired from the General Electric Co. and was a member of Owensboro Christian Church. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was an avid bird hunter especially of quail and loved his bird dogs. He also enjoyed helping his friend, Coy Shown, at his store, Shown"s Sundries. He loved raising a garden each year, his favorite being tomatoes, and giving vegetables away to his family and friends. Bob was very devoted to his wife, caring for her and his grandchildren also. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Darlene Norris in 1954 and a sister, Ruth Riley.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Theresa Norris, two daughters, Deborah Thompson and husband Bill and Connie Henry and husband Jerry, all of Owensboro, a son, David Norris and wife Cheryl of Owensboro, six grandchildren, Jason (Heather) Crowe, Phillip Henry, Jo Lynn (Chris) Embry, Nancy Henry, Robert Norris, and April (Harrison) Mitchell, nine great grandchildren, and two brothers, Wilbur "Buzz" Norris, Jr. of Utica and Richard (Carol) Norris of Owensboro.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 22, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment following in Rosehill Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
