Robert Birkhead Newman

Robert Bob Birkhead Newman, 71, of 1225 Moreland Avenue, Owensboro, died Thursday, December 26, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.

The Owensboro native graduated from the University of Kentucky, was retired from Texas Gas, a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, Kappa Sigma, the natural gas associations of several states, was a retired Army Reserve Major and a University of Kentucky basketball fan.

Survivors include a son, Mason C. Newman of Lexington; two daughters, Robin A. Scott of Owensboro and Holly L. Jones of Edmond, OK; a brother, Sam C. Newman, of Yucaipa, CA; and 5 grandchildren.

The funeral service is at 1 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday and after 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
