Robert W. Moore, 89, of Philpot, died Thursday, November 3, 2005 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Hancock County, a son of the late William Wade and Mary Anna Lamar Moore, Mr. Moore retired from raw material control at General Electric after 30 years, was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church since 1941 and served as its treasurer for 30 years, and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre.
Survivors include his wife, Alta Lane Moore, to whom he would have been married 65 years this coming Christmas Eve, his sisters, Ruby Blakeman and her husband James of Lexington and Martine Holland and her husband George, of Lewisport, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Services are at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Phillip Bradley and Rev. Joe Thomas, and where visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with full military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Pleasant Grove Methodist Cemetery Fund.
