Robert Jason Mattingly, 33, of Henderson, died unexpectedly December 9, 2006. Born in Henderson, Jason attended Owensboro and Henderson County Schools and Daymar Business College. He had worked at Thompson Tool and Die and Golden Corral. An avid outdoorsman, Jason enjoyed fishing and hunting and was also a dedicated fan of University of Kentucky basketball. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Joe Bassett and Robert E. Mattingly and his great-aunt, Sybil Nanny Malone.
Survivors include his mother, Jo Ellen Mattingly of Henderson; his father and step-mother, Robert and Linda Mattingly of Henderson; his sister and her husband, Kerri and David McEntire of Owensboro; his grandmothers, Iona Bassett and Emma Mattingly, both of Owensboro; his aunts, Joy Lynn Tepner of Nashville and Mabeth Bishop of San Diego; his uncle, Gary Mattingly of Owensboro; his nephew and niece, Jake McEntire and Katie McEntire; his cousins Eric Tepner, Marc Tepner, Daniel Bishop, Brandy Bishop, and Elizabeth Bishop; his best friend, David Keene; and his beloved cat Murphy.
Services are 2:30 Wednesday in Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home.
