Robert Michael "Mike" Johnson

Robert Michael "Mike" Johnson Jr., 46, of Owensboro passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on November 17, 1970 in Daviess County to the late Robert Michael Johnson Sr. and his mother, Joan Roberts Johnson Whitmer. Michael graduated from Daviess County High School and immediately enlisted in the Air Force where he received the Air Force Achievement Medal. His accomplishments included but were not limited to Senior Airman, Castle AFB 90 Club, recognition for dedication to quality, professionalism, and duty which contributed to the winning "Air Combat Command's Best" award, maintenance category. While his greatest accomplishments were received while serving in the military, his greatest love was his two sons and his mother. Mike was a kind soul who had a big heart and a beautiful smile. He loved music and enjoyed karaoke.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Robert Michael Johnson Sr. in 2015.

Survivors include his two sons, Robert Michael Johnson III and Christian Johnson both of Tuscumbia, Alabama; mother, Joan Whitmer and husband William; brothers, William Whitmer Jr and wife Caroline and Aaron Whitmer both of Owensboro; sister, Lisa Dodd and husband Billy; nephews, Jackson Whitmer and Zale Dodd; special friend, Deanna Fulkerson of Owensboro; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to express special appreciation for the love and support of the Whitmer and Roberts families.

The service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 7 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Myke Templeton officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
