Robert Miller Johnson, 70, of 4101 Kipling Drive, Owensboro, died Friday, November 14, 2003 at his home. He was born in Daviess County, a son of the late Hugh and Ruth Atherton Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from the Owensboro Police Department as a sergeant after 25 years of service. A member of Seven Hills Baptist Church, and Utica Masonic Lodge, he was a Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and enjoyed Nascar and University of Kentucky basketball.
His companion, Brenda Willis of Owensboro, a son, Rob and Kim Johnson, of Columbia, SC; three daughters, Steve and Kay Johnson Bright of Owensboro, Sam and Danetta Johnson Hopewell of Bartow, FL, and Sheree Meiler of Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Jeremy Winters and Janie Sue Hopewell, both of Bartow, FL, Braden Robert Johnson of Columbia, SC, and Madison Bright and Richie Bright, both of Owensboro: a brother, James Allen Johnson of Louisville, a sister, Virginia Moseley of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews survive him.
Service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Utica Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Fund.
