Robert Jean Hamilton, 88, of Philpot, passed away November 3, 2026, at Welington Parc under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Born October 15, 1938, to the late Morris and Ada Winkler Hamilton, Robert was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church since 1966, where he worked the church picnics every year for many years.
As a retired painter and wallpaper hanger, Robert was known as one of the best in town and always had a waiting list. After he retired, Robert decided to work at Rural King, where he enjoyed thirteen years helping in the pet department.
He was a man of many hats. Robert could repair or make anything you put in front of him and would handcraft wood items in his garage. He was a passionate, kindhearted, faithful, and smart husband and father. He spent time coaching his son’s baseball teams and truly loved his wife and soulmate, Margaret Mayfield Hamilton, who preceded him in death five years ago after sixty-three years of marriage.
Robert was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Katie Hamilton and grandson, Brian Hamilton.
He is survived by his children, Barbara (Tim) Gaddis, Steve (Pam) Hamilton, Mike (Nancy) Hamilton, David (Margie) Hamilton, Denise (Jeff) Wallace, and Sheryl Bratcher; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren; siblings, Sharon Pearl, Carolyn Church, and Glenn Hamilton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Monday, November 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The Funeral Mass will be 12:00 p.m. Monday at St. Williams Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Williams Cemetery in Knottsville.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Wellington Parc and Hospice, that showed Robert exceptional care and allowed the family to know he was always taken care of. They would also like to thank Shelby, who was Robert’s caretaker while he was at home and treated him like family.
