Robert L. Howell

Robert L. "Bobby" Howell, 46, of 2415 St. Ann St., Owensboro passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on July 2, 1963 in Daviess Co., Ky. and was an Instructional Assistant for the Owensboro Public School System. He was a member of Owensboro Christian Church, had been the owner and operator of the Hobby Center from 1989-2003, was a past member of the Owensboro Jaycees where he had served on the board. For the past 20 years, he has been involved with the Owensboro-Daviess Co. Youth Football League where he has coached the Cardinals Varsity team and the Cowboys flag team. He was a volunteer helping with the Owensboro High School football team, had coached baseball at Eastern Little League and Owensboro Babe Ruth, and also had coached in Upward Basketball. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Howell on April 19, 2007.

Surviving is his wife of 16 years, Jackie Pyland-Howell, his son Zachary "Z" Howell at home, mother, Joyce Sublett Howell of Owensboro, two sisters, Lea Ann Collings and husband David of Sabina, OH, and Melisa Kessinger of Owensboro, a brother, Matthew Howell and wife Julie of Owensboro, his mother and father-in-law, Bill and Jenny Pyland of Owensboro, sister-in-law, Joann Stickland and husband Gary of Nashville, TN, brother-in-law, Billy Pyland and wife Candace of Owensboro, nieces and nephews, Carlos Howell, Brooke Pyland Parker, Benjamin Collings, Luis Pyland, Nathan Collings, Siara Pyland, Sarah Strickland, Laney Howell, and Jacob Howell, great nieces and nephews, Samantha Wedding, Victoria Howell, Dakota Wedding, Alanis Howell, John Michael Howell, and Robert Ray Howell.

Services will be 12 Noon Friday, September 18 at the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to a College Scholarship Fund for Zachary Howell, c/o U. S. Bank, 2701 New Hartford Rd., Owensboro, Ky. 42303.
