Robert Reid Hayes, 54, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, November 20, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family. Born April 5, 1951 in Chicago, IL, he was a disabled Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Owensboro Christian Church. Mr. Hayes was very involved in the Recovery Community and spoke at the Owensboro Medical Health System Treatment Center and sponsored several young men on the road to recovery. A loving husband, father, brother, and friend, Mr. Hayes loved spending time with his grandchildren; playing his guitar and singing; and reading his Bible. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen Boyd Hayes and brothers, Jerry Martin, Jimmy Martin and Tommy Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Nancy Glogowski Hayes; a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Jerry Kirby of Owensboro; a son, Jason Reid Hayes of Owensboro; grandchildren; Mason Kyle Kirby and Erin Brieanne Kirby; brother; Richard Martin of Streamwood, IL; and sisters, Dorothy Radloff of Elgin, IL, Helen Ann Oldham of South Elgin, IL, and Lora Slaby of McHenry, IL; and several nieces, nephews including Alan Radloff and David Radloff of Owensboro, and great-nieces and nephews.
Services are 4 P.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home with military honors provided by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be from 12-4 P.M. Wednesday.
