Robert Alan Hamilton, 68, of Owensboro, KY, was called home on January 7, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family. Born in Daviess County on August 13, 1957, he was the youngest son of the late Herbert Joseph Hamilton and Mary Willie Long Hamilton.
Alan earned his bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University and retired as the Senior Vice President and Trust Manager at Independence Bank, following a 43-year career in the banking industry. Through his leadership and commitment to the people he served, he founded the Trust Department at Independence Bank, leaving a lasting professional legacy rooted in service, trust, and dedication to his community.
Above all, Alan was a family man who loved his family deeply. He was an avid sports fan, both a UK basketball fan and a shareholder for the Green Bay Packers. While many knew him as a respected member of the Owensboro community, those closest to him knew him best for his warmth, wit, and ability to bring smiles and laughter to every room.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Harold Hamilton, Francis Hamilton, James Hamilton, Donald Hamilton, Kenneth Hamilton, Dorothy Hardesty, and Joan Cecil.
Alan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris (Dee) Taul Hamilton; his children, Joshua (Michaela) Hamilton and Reina (Adam) Peebles; his siblings, Jeanette (Fred) Dillingham, Jane Lanham, Betty (Larry) Johnson, Shirley (Terry) Snyder, his beloved sister-in-law, Pat Hamilton; numerous nieces and nephews who held a very special place in his heart; as well as his cherished dog and constant companion, Nala.
The funeral Mass for Alan will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Pat Reynolds officiating. Entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1 until 5 p.m. with prayers at 5 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
