Robert Edward Grass

ROBERT EDWARD GRASS 87 years old, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2012 at Wellington Parc.

Born in Troy, Indiana, on September 26, 1924, he was the son of the late Judd and Golda Grass; was a Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He also served the Lord through evangelistic work and by pastoring numerous churches. "Bro. Bob" loved his God, family and friends, and this great country. He most enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and favorite foods, gardening and grilling (known for his talent with tomatoes and homemade barbeque sauce), watching the Chicago Cubs, Raiders football, and UK basketball. In his earlier days, he was an avid hunter and fisherman! He loved being outside with nature. He was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Jim, Ralph & John Grass; his only sister, Mary Johnston, and a granddaughter, Angela Michelle Westerfield.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Vernie Grass of Owensboro; four daughters, Pam (Allen) Shouse, Beverly (George) Whitson, Brenda Grass, and Patti Westerfield; grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Ellis, Ginger (Charley) Hammock, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Shouse, Jennifer Shouse, Gregory (Wendy) Whitson, and Johnna (Jared) Lock; Becky Turner Porter played a big part in his life as an "adopted" granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. A Final Salute will be given by the Marine Corps League during visitation at 5:30 P.M.. Services celebrating the life of Bro. Bob's will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Crosspointe Baptist Church, 550 Worthington Rd Owensboro, with the Rev Farrell Isenberg officiating & Rev Allen Shouse assisting. Visitation on Thursday will be from 5-6 P.M. at the church. Burial with military honors will be at Elmwood Cemetery, 1300 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro Friday, August 10, 2012 at 10:00 A.M..
